After downloading Version 7.0 I have been unable to enter transactions involving Shares - both dividend receipt and purchases.

On opening the fund the following message is displayed "MYSF has encountered an error. This may have affected some data and the program should be restarted".

After restarting ( several times)  the same message occurs.

Proceeding to 011 - Shares,  the list of assets in the right box is empty. Selecting "Exchange" brings up no prompts eg ASX. On entering a "Code" the same message is repeated. Similarly after entering "date". After selecting "View and Manage Asset Allocation Table" the following message is received - No Asset Selected -" Please add new Financial Asset or select from the list on the right". When selecting bank accounts none are shown.

The existing share assets can however be listed using the Reports Tool - eg Trial Balance and asset Summary,  and when using System Setup -View and enter Asset Cost Base.

I can enter transactions for bank transfers, contributions, interest, payments etc.

I have reinstalled MYSF using my original 3.1.1 DVD. The problem did not occur after doing this. However after downloading and updating to Version 7.0 the same problem reoccurred.

So the problem is either with my downloading software are there is a bug in Version 7. Do you have any advice or suggestions. I am using Windows 2000.

Michael

Hi,

When an error like this occurs there is normally a file written to the root directory of the C:\ drive, called "MySFError.log". Would you be able to send us a copy of this file, or post the contents of the file (it opens in notepad) as a response?

The error may be occurring because there is such a big difference between your version (3.1.1) and the one that you are updating to (7.0.0). In this case the solution could be to completely uninstall the old version of MySF Manager, download the latest installer and activate that on your computer.

Regards,

MySF

The following is the error log

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

at System.Windows.Forms.Nativewindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Originally I was updating to 7.0 from the previous version  6.?? for which the updates had been downloaded. The only reason for trying the original disk (with 3.1.1) was a check.

Cheers

Hi,

It sounds like there are no exchanges held in the data file of your fund.

Could you please open your fund file and go to System Setup > Exchanges. You may find that this screen also shows you the error. Choose not to close the program if you are shown a selection. Once the screen appears please click on the 'refresh all codes' link in the bottom left of the screen.

After the refresh process is complete please close this screen and go to File > Save. Go back to the Manage Fund > Add or Manage Assets > Financial Assets > ... screen and you should find that the exchanges and codes selections work as expected.

Please let us know how you go.

Regards,

MySF

Hi,

No luck unfortunately, the 'Refreshing Code List....' progress pop-up windows does not progress and sits on 'Starting refresh please wait...' status for 10-15 minutes eventually caused mySF to crash - error log below.

Running Windows Vista 32-bit SP1, Windows FW is switched off, no outbound internet filtering is active on the d-link home internet router.

Should probably mention aswell that Vista UAC (user account control) is switched off, found with some previous versions that the upgrade process did not work when this was switched on.

Hi,

The list of exchanegs and codes is actually loaded from a local copy. It still sounds like in your case the software is not able to load this information.

The best option forward may be to uninstall MySF Manager and then reinstall the most recent version and activate that. Then try to open your fund and reload the exchanges again.

If this still does not work then we would need you to send us your data file. We can force the file to take up a new list of exchanges using a modified copy of MySF Manager.

Regards,

MySF

Hi,

We would need to receive your data file as an email attachment. The data file is typically located in C:\\ directory. The name of the file will be the same as the name of your fund and will have a gold colored logo next to it.

A easy way to sent the file as an email attachment is as follows:
1) Go to C:\\ in Windows
2) Right click on the .mysf file with the gold logo next to it
3) From the small menu that pops up select Send to > Mail recipient.
4) You should find that your email client (Outlook, Thunderbird etc) will open with a new email with the fund file attached

Please send the email to info@mysf.com.au

Regards,

MySF
