Hi,

When reviewing reports at an end of year rollover, the report "Change in Market Value of Assets-Shares" this total value matches my share statements. Though when i review the Balance Sheet Report- Item "Increase in Market Value of Shares 011" this value is not the same. This larger value throws out my asset account balance by the difference.

Can you help me find where the item "Increase in Market Value for 011- Shares" is obtaining this added value?

Hi,

In the case of funds that have been operating for more one financial year the amount of increase in market value as shown in the Change in Market Value of assets report (single, current year) and that shown in the Increase in market value account on the balance sheet will be different. This is because the Change in Market Value report shows only the change in value that has occured over the past one financial year, whereas account 1171 and those below it include all of the change in market value of assets for all past financial years.

The best way to get a report that includes all transactions for a particular account is as follows:
1) Go to System Setup > General Ledger
2) Locate the account (1171, under Asset).
3) Double click on the account. This will open up a new window which shows you the transactions that have taken place in the current financial year.
4) Change the start date of the "Selected date range..." at the top of this window to be the foundation date of the fund, or some date before that (eg 1/7/1980). This will force the program to show all transactions.
5) Click on Display results to refresh the list of transactions and show all transactions that have taken place.

You should find that the most recent entry is the current year increase in market value of shares and the past entries represent the increases in various past financial periods.

Please note that some of the above will change from update 7.0.0. After that update the year end will include a new report in the year end showing a cumulative increase from cost as well as the report which shows the current year increase only.

Regards,

MySF
