The Asset Revaluation Notes to the Balance Sheet quotes revaluations at 30 June 2003. This appears to be hard coded. Can it be changed? Can the software be changed to update the information each year.

Is there another fix.

NB This is one example, there are possibly others

Hi,

The text contained in Notes to Accounts can be changed via the System Setup > Notes to Accounts screen. We will check to see if a warning message or automated correction can be placed into the reporter so that possible incorrect dates may be updated automatically.

Hi,

Surely the point of the reports in general is that they do not have to be manually populated with the required info from a particular year - they pull the info from the database - presumably by the use of fields within the reports - that is why, for example, the profit and loss statement says "for the year 01/07/2006 to 30/06/2007" as appropriate for the particular year.

The problem with the notes is that the date "30th of June 2003" was obviously put in as text rather than the year end field (and so requires updating manually) - surely the appropriate date for this note will always be the end of the appropriate tax year and so the appropriate field should be used in the report which would then generate correctly for any year.

I realise that if 30 June falls on Saturday or Sunday the valuation price used will actually be the Friday closing price - but if you accept that the "relevant closing price quotation" remains as the Friday closing price until the market opens on Monday then the note will still be correct.

Is there any reason why this note cannot be formatted to update automatically as for all the other year-specific info?

(I have added basically the same reply to the similar thread on the "Tips" forum - but it seemed appropriate here also - I hope the repetition is OK).

Regards

Neil H.

Hi,

The instructions for manually changing the text were posted because we had received a large number of calls asking for help on this matter. This indicated to us that the task was not intuitive.

We will make a change so that the date field is updated automatically, however this has not been implemented yet.

Regards,

MySF
