You may find that recently-listed companies are not automatically being loaded into the Financial Asset screen in MySF when you enter the share code. This is due to the fact that your MySF share files are probably dated before the float of these companies. To update your share file details, save the following file...
30062005.mysfshr
...to your MySF share file directory. By default, this directory is located under "Program Files\MySF\MySF Manager\ShareInfo\". If you are unsure, check your settings in MySF under "File >> Settings". There should be a "ASX Information kept in" location. This represents the directory location of all your ASX share files. If this is different from the above-mentioned "Program Files" location, save the file here.
Once this is done, open the "Shares" screen in MySF by navigating to "Add/Manage Financial Asset", either via the Main Menu under "Manage Assets" or via the top menu under "Manage Fund". Once here, select "Shares" to open the relevant screen.
On the "Shares" screen, click "Add New". You will be asked to select either "New Purchase" or "Dividend Reinvestment". Select either of these and click "Browse" under the "Code" field. A popup screen should appear. Click the "Update Listing" button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. After a couple of seconds, your share details should be refreshed. From this point, entering the share code on the "Shares" screen should automatically load company details into the relevant fields.
If you find that this hasn't worked to your expectations, feel free to contact us here at MySF via info@mysf.com.au or by simply responding to this post.
Regards,
MySF

I don’t know what has gone wrong, I double clicked the ‘30062005.mysfshr’ which opened as a text document which I then saved in the Program file directory as instructed, and I noticed there are other similar files in this “ShareInfo” directory.
When opening MySF and selecting the Shares, Add New, New Purchase when clicking the “Browse” button under the “Code” I got “Error Message” something like
“MySF has encountered an error. This may have affected some data and the program should be restarted. Exit MySF now”
I deleted the file that was listed as a Text document type file, and used the Copy/Paste for the ‘30062005.mysfshr’ into the ShareInfo directory, but with same result. Closing down and even turning the computer off has not helped. In adding a new share transaction it doesn’t even recognise any share codes like the ANZ, and when clicking the Browse button I get the Error message and MySF shuts down.
The Sample Fund still recognize the ANZ but not the new BNB and the Sample Fund do not display the BROWSE button.
Could you please advise, would re-installing the last two MySF software updates get me back where I was?

Hi,
Please try the following steps:
1.) Right click on: 30062005.mysfshr
2.) Depending on what browser you are using, there will be a number of options that appear, please choose to "Save as", or in Internet Explorer "Save Target as..."
3.) You will see a folder browser open up. Please navigate to C:\Program Files\MySF\MySF Manager\ShareInfo
4.) click on Save. At this time you may be warned that a file with this name already exists, and asked if you wish to overwrite the existing file. Please choose Yes. When saving the file, please make sure that the name of the file (30062005) and its extension (.mysfshr) do not change
5.) Start up MySF Manager, and open the MySF Sample Fund.
6.) Check the information under File > Settings. The first thing that is shown is 'ASX Information kept in:' This should say: C:\Program Files\MySF\MySF Manager\ShareInfo If it does not, please click on browse, and navigate to that folder and click Ok, then on the Settings screen click Save.
7.) Please close the settings screen, and open up Manage Fund > Add or Manage Assets > Financial Assets > 011 - Shares. Click on Add New, select New Purchase from the dropdown, please leave ASX Listed (which is directly above the New Purchase choice) as Yes. Please note that if you choose No for ASX Listed, the Browse button disappears from under the Code box.
8.) Click on Browse under the Code box. This will open up a small window, which lists all codes currently known by the software.
9.) To forcibly refresh the listing, please click on Update Listing in the bottom left of this window. What this will do is look for the newest date under the ASX Share Information directory, and will reload all of the information from that. The file linked above is current as at 30th June 2005, and contains the BNB code as well as other new listings.
10.) After a short delay the list will reappear. Please click on Cancel, to close this window and return tp the Manage Financial Assets (011 - Shares) window. Please type BNB into the Code box, and 'Babcock and Brown Limited' should appear automatically for Name.
11.) For each fund, if the listing does not appear to be current, please repeat all of the above from step 6 onwards.
Please note that if the latest file is dated after 30th June 2005, the program will attempt to update based on that. The name of the file ('30062005') is interpreted as the date of the share information by the software, so it is important that it does not change during the 'Save target as' process.
Please also note that if you are using a MetaStock datafeed, or are updating from Float.com.au, then the Name will appear the same as the Code, as MetaStock format files do not contain the Name information.
Let us know if you experience further difficulties with this.
Kind Regards,
MySF

I still got the problem, everything is going fine up to your Point 8.
When using “The Sample Fund” I have no Browse button at this point even though the ‘Yes’ for ASX Listed shares is ticked thus I cannot update the listing. I changed the FY from 03-04 to 05-06 but with no different result. The Sample Fund when selecting a New Purchase will accept ASX codes like ANZ, BPC etc but not the newer BNB.
When opening my own created “Super Fund”, I do see the “Browse Button” at point 8, but when I click on the Browse I get the Error Message, if I now click YES to exit on this message, MySF closes down, if I click NO to exit on the error message I will get the “Please Select Share Code” screen, but there is no list or anything in the box, and when clicking on the Update Listing button in the bottom I get the same Error Message again, and I either have to exit MySF or return to ultimately get the Error Message again. When I am using my own created “Super Fund” on selecting a New Purchase, MySF will NOT accept any of the ASX codes, whilst the “Sample Fund” would.
I have installed both of the recent Upgrades, and as I have only some 15 transactions in my fund it would be no real drama if I had to start all over again, thus, would I do any damage if I were to attempt to re-install the updates 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 again (or even starting with the original installation disc).
Regards
KJn

Hi,
Under File > Settings, you can also choose Yes / No for "Use ASX Information Downloads for Revaluation", please choose Yes, then click Save, and Exit. This should bring back the Browse button for the Sample Fund. (Please note that you can revert to the Sample Fund as it was originally, by clicking on File > Refresh Sample Fund) Please try to Refresh Sample Fund, then open MySF Sample fund, and repeat the above steps from 7.) onward. If the program still fails, it is almost certain that it is attempting to read a file which is either damaged, or the incorrect format. The file causing the problems would need to be deleted for this problem to be fixed, but it is very difficult to accurately say which of the files it is.
There are no problems with uninstalling and reinstalling the software. As files which are created by the software after installation (such as your fund's file) remain even in the case of an uninstall, you will be able to find your fund intact after the reinstall. As a tip, it is usually best to uninstall programs in reverse order to how they were installed, eg: uninstall update 2.0.1, then 2.0.0, and so on...
After you complete the uninstall, to make sure that there are no 'damaged' files remaining in the ShareInfo directory, it may be best to manually go to C:\Program Files\MySF Manager and delete the ShareInfo directory (it will be reinstalled by the software).
To assist us in identifying where modifications may need to be made to avert similar issues in future, could we please ask you to email the error report file to info@mysf.com.au The error report is a small text based file written by the software to, which is C:\MySFError.log and contains when and where the error had occured.
Kind Regards,
MySF
