MySF Manager update 10.2.1 is now available

The latest update to MySF Manager 10.2.1, is now available.

Firstly, we sincerely apologise for the large download size of this software update but it was unavoidable due to an update of the Crystal Reports module. Future updates will return to the normal size of less than 10 Mb.

Secondly, after the update has been applied, you will need to 'Browse' for your fund file again on the Fund Selection screen. The reason for this is that the update is a re-installation of the entire software due to the number of changes we've released and it includes an overwrite of the list of funds on that screen. You only need to browse for your fund once and MySF Manager will remember it the next time you open the software.

[u][b]Bug Fixes[/b][/u]

[b]1.) Fixed:[/b] Time Weighted Return filtering on asset allocation category was crashing.

[b]2.) Fixed:[/b] Exporting all year end reports to PDF format never finished if no Capital Gains Adjustment report was available.

[b]3.) Fixed:[/b] Manage Asset screen always prompts for Short Name even if one is supplied and saves anyway.

[b]4.) Fixed:[/b] General Ledger Transactions report shows only Asset reports, skipping all others.

[b]5.) Fixed:[/b] Memo text entered during a backup process was not being shown on the Restore Backup screen.

[b]6.) Fixed:[/b] View GST Position screen shows incorrect amounts when there has been a Capital Loss.

[b]7.) Fixed:[/b] Change in Market Values Totals report generated after Year End Rollover was showing incorrect Starting Values for assets that have undergone any cost base changes. To rectify these reports you'll need to regenerate the reports by reversing the year end rollover in question (Superfund Administration > Reverse Rollover) and re-process it (Superfund Administration > Start Rollover).

[b]8.) Fixed:[/b] Asset Values vs. Investment Strategy > 'View Report' button shows an empty window.

[b]9.) Fixed:[/b] Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks.

[u][b]Improvements[/b][/u]

[b]1.)[/b] Previous Bank Reconciliations are now listed in descending order. In other words, the latest ones are shown first in the drop down box and older ones last.

[b]2.)[/b] Newer Notes to Accounts are sorted amongst old notes ignoring the prefix. The software used to move all edited notes to the bottom of the list even if the name of the note had not changed. This improvement fixes the sorting issue and keeps new and updated notes in order.

[b]3.)[/b] Revaluations on a single parcel of an asset now have an option to not update the rest of the parcels within the same asset. The option to revalue all parcels on the Asset Revaluation Table screen is selected by default and to revalue a single parcel, untick the box and save the new value.

[b]4.)[/b] You can now edit any Business Card from the 'Browse' dialog when adding any transaction.

[b]5.)[/b] MySF Manager now connects to the Internet from behind a Proxy network. It uses your default Internet Explorer settings set up in the Windows Control Panel. You can also edit these settings by going to Configuration > Settings > Network Settings. If you are not on a Proxy network then this will have no effect on you.

[u][b]Coming Soon[/b][/u]

[b]1.) SOLVED ([url=http://mysf.com.au/members/FindPost4801.aspx]see next post[/url]):[/b]We are currently investigating the issue of tax credits being applied only to accumulation members during the year end rollover. We are getting advice on how this should be handled as there is some controversy around it and want to make sure the software handles it correctly before issuing an update.

[b]2.)[/b] The year end currently applies profit and loss from a segregated asset to the member in question for the whole year regardless of the fact that they may have entered pension mode part way through the year. We're currently in the process of updating the output of the Profit and Loss report to cater for this change.

[b]3.)[/b] The RSS News Feed button currently doesn't return any feeds from Yahoo Finance which we'll fix asap.

[b]4.)[/b] A 'Generate All' button will be implemented in to the Report Tool and Year End Rollover to produce a PDF version of all of your reports including an Table of Contents page at the front. This has been requested by a number of users.

[b]1.)[/b] Editing a transaction via the Transaction Reporter sometimes displayed the debit and credit lines with incorrect amounts throwing the total of the transaction out.

[b]2.)[/b] Reporting > Open Report Tool > Year End was crashing if no specific report was selected to view and the "Generate Report" button was clicked.

[b]3.)[/b] If refreshing the Sample Fund via Home > Refresh Sample Fund failed, it would partially close your fund but not redirect you back to the Select Fund screen. This was potentially dangerous for the fund left partially open.

[b]4.)[/b] A fix has been found for those of you using Windows Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit that cannot print reports via the report viewers print button. We've posted step by step instructions in the following forum post but please be aware it is not a simple process.

MySF Manager update 10.1.1 is now available

The latest update to MySF Manager, update 10.1.1, is now available.

[u][b]Free SMSF Software[/b][/u]

We have created a Free version of MySF Manager for new customers whose funds total value is less than $150,000. This version is fully functional and comes with free access to all software updates.

The free version is accessible via our website and once a user registers for the free version, a Customer ID will be sent to them so they can activate the software. As soon as their funds value reaches $150,000 they will be prompted to purchase MySF Manager.

[b][u]New Website[/u][/b]

We will be launching a new website along with a new forum in the coming months. The new website will feature a vast improvement as to how information is displayed to viewers and the new forum will be much easier to use than the current one. All of the current forum posts will remain in tact when we transition to the new forum.

The new website will use the latest Microsoft .NET 4.0 technology and this also means the MySF Online services our users currently use for price data feeds, updates, etc will also be improved.

[u][b]Modifications[/b][/u]

[i]Reporting > Report Tool[/i]
The General Ledger report can now be run for prior years. Previously the report would only allow you to run current year activity but now it is possible to place any date range into the fields to obtain the general ledger transactions for each of your accounts or selected accounts. Note that this report will only retrieve accounts that have had activity within the date range and as such will not display a vast array of accounts that are irrelevant.

[i]Home > Import[/i]
The Import process now enables you to select a different tax type (GST, GST-PC or GST-NC) for your imported transactions. The effect of this tax type selection will form part of the cost base calculation for each asset so it is important that before running any imports that you select the correct tax type from the drop down box. GST is selected by default.

[i]MySF Sample Fund[/i]
The Sample Fund has been updated to show the 2010/11 rollover along with its year end reports available and is currently in the 2011/12 financial year. As always, please feel free to play with the Sample Fund however you wish.

[u][b]Bug Fixes[/b][/u]
[b]1.)[/b] Year width of some of the date inputs was too short and the full year was not visible.

[b]2.)[/b] Member's Position report was duplicating the amount of Share of Profit.

[b]3.)[/b] Member gender and employer details were not carried through to the Member Contribution Statement even when these details were specified.

[b]4.)[/b] Username/Password prompt has been removed from the Remove Asset screen as it was a nuisance to many users and really was unnecessary.

[b]5.)[/b] The Transaction Reporter does not lose the list of transactions shown when another window is shown on top of it. This means that when you edit a transaction and come back to the transaction reporter screen, it will not require you to redefine the filtered transactions.

[b]6.)[/b] The Import process has had some tweaks to do with how it handles the price per unit and brokerage of assets. In some cases especially, the GST on brokerage was rounding to a whole number instead of a decimal which meant that the cost base of imported assets was incorrect.

[b]7.)[/b] When the Market Value of Assets screen is opened, the screen will automatically begin loading your asset information. If this process was interrupted, MySF Manager would crash but now some measures have been put in place to prevent a user interrupting this process.

[b]8.)[/b] For an unknown reason the code for removal of exchanges via the Exchange screen was never completed. You can now remove exchanges from the list of default exchanges via Configuration > Exchanges.

[b]9.)[/b] When the import data feed process was finished MySF Manager crashed due to a totally unrelated issue.

[b]10.)[/b] When the CSV data feed file to be imported was open elsewhere and MySF Manager attempted to access it, MySF Manager would crash. Now you are prompted to close the file that's open elsewhere.

[b]11.)[/b] Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks.

MySF Manager update 9.4.0 is now available

The latest update to MySF Manager, update 9.4.0, is now available.

[b]Authenticated[/b]

The MySF Manager source code has now been signed and authenticated. Now when you open MySF Manager you will see it has been verified and you can view the certificate details by clicking on 'More Details'. This simply means that the software you are using has been issued by us and all necessary checks have been implemented to ensure that is the case.

[b]Modifications[/b]

[i]Bank Accounts[/i]
At times some of your funds bank accounts are no longer in use or are closed etc. We have now added the ability to remove these bank accounts from any of the bank account drop downs on other screens. Please note that this does not affect any of the reports. You should go to Cash and Bank Accounts > Manage Bank Accounts, select a bank account you want to remove from bank account drop down boxes on other screens and click on 'Activate / Deactivate'. You must save the bank account for the status to take effect.

[i]Predefined Transactions[/i]
It is now possible to save a transaction while entering it giving you the ability to access it again later via Cash and Bank Accounts > Predefined Transactions. This means transactions such as rent received or interest received can be re-entered into the system without having to specify all of the relevant details every time. To do this, enter the transaction as normal and click on the 'Save Template' button at the bottom left of the screen.

[i]Backups[/i]
Home > Create Backup has changed again allowing you to specify your own file name and your own backup location. By default the screen will load with the fund's defined backup folder (Configuration > Settings > Folders) set as the location as well as the backup name set to the date and time but you can overwrite the fields on the screen with whatever you wish.

[b]Bugs fixed[/b]

[b]1.)[/b] The Simple Setup wizard was not creating an asset allocation table for financial assets added through it. This meant that users would see an unallocated percentage showing up on their planned vs. actual analysis graphs.

[b]2.)[/b] BAS Transaction report now shows 'Amount (inc GST)' instead of just 'Amount'.

[b]3.)[/b] Further issues with increased DPI were found and rectified. The worst were some of the transaction screens that should now be corrected on high resolution screens.

[i]Year End Rollover[/i]
On the very last page of the rollover where the reports are generated, you can now click a button to export all of the year end reports to PDF format and place them in a compressed ZIP file. The ZIP file will be placed in your funds backup folder defined under Configuration > Settings > Folders.

[i]Backups[/i]
It is now possible to write a memo/note for each backup created via Home > Create Backup. The memo is saved as a .txt file with the same name as the backup file. These notes are also loaded into the restore backup screen via Home > Restore Backup so you can see what notes you've entered (if any) for each backup file.

[b]Bugs fixed[/b]

[b]1.)[/b] The Integrity Checker that runs every time a fund is first opened was modifying distributions that had an Unfranked amount of $0.00. This is incorrect as it is possible for distributions to not contain an unfranked amount and so the code performing this unnecessary fix has been removed.

[b]2.)[/b] The Members Allocation Table was trying to automatically fix Overridden Allocation percentages that were greater than 100%. In other words, if the percentage was greater than 100%, it would continue to increment the number down by a small amount until the percentage was brought back to 100%. In some cases this caused an infinite loop and was also unneccessary because the screens using allocation percentages will not allow a percentage greater than 100% to be entered. The code doing this has been removed.

[b][u]Bugs fixed[/u][/b]

[b]1.)[/b] Some screens did not generate correctly with users who run their screens at a larger than normal DPI setting.

[b]2.)[/b] An issue with the year end prevented users from completing it and resulted in the software crashing. The year end has now been reverted back to the previous version and users can now continue as normal. This means that the Income Tax and Deferred Tax selectable drop downs are no longer available. This is only temporary and will be brought back as soon as possible.

MySF Manager update 9.2.0 is now available

[b]Modifications[/b]

[i]Year End Rollover[/i]
There is now a dynamic choice for allocation of Deferred Tax and Income Tax. This is available on the Unrealised Capital Gains screen. In most cases, the default selected accounts will be fine but there is now the option of choosing either a 'Preserved', 'Unrestricted' or 'Restricted' account.

[i]Manage Assets[/i]
Users can now see the current market value of each asset via the Manage Assets screen (for example, Assets > Shares) as well as the value of the asset next to each item in the revaluation history table . If a user selects a particular asset from the list they will see underneath it's Capitalised Cost field that there is now a 'Market Value' field. This field shows the assets current value based on its latest revalued price. Adding this feature means there is no need to have to run a report to see the value of an individual asset.

[i]Member Contribution Statement (MCS)[/i]
It has come to our attention that contributions such as spouse contributions should be shown on the contributing members MCS, not the member who received the contribution. More information can be found via the following link at the very bottom of the page:

All transactions where a user has assigned themselves as the payor (in the field near the top left) and the transaction is a contribution of some sort, will end up as that person's total to come in line with the above ATO requirement.

[b]Bugs fixed[/b]

[b]1.)[/b] The Simple Setup wizard was not creating business cards for the newly created assets and as a result when a user had finished with the simple setup they were left with having to add them manually. Users are now prompted if they would like business cards created automatically if they don't already exist.

[b]2.)[/b] The Depreciation Processing screen was not calculating the depreciation expense correctly in that it calculated the depreciation expense based on the original value of the asset, not the original value minus any already depreciated value in previous years.

[b]3.)[/b] The Members Position report produced at the end of the year end rollover was not showing amounts under the appropriate columns (Preserved, Unrestricted and Restricted) selected during the year end rollover.

[b]4.)[/b] There was an error on the View and Edit Sale Records screen where if a user had a lot of sales in the fund the software would crash without the usual error message. This was occurring because of how the screen created the links and buttons and two of each were created on each sale line but the Windows operating system only permits a certain number of these. This has been rectified by limiting the number of links and buttons on the screen to show only sales that can be edited and reversed within the fund's current financial year.

[b]5.)[/b] The Sales report available via the View and Edit Sale Records screen was incorrect in that it showed all sales regardless of the dates specified on the screen. The report now shows only the sales specified on the screen either by asset class or date range.

[b]6.)[/b] Any overridden allocation percentages entered into the Members Allocation Table screen were not being carried into the year end rollover on the Allocation Percentages screen. These overridden percentages are now automatically entered into the rollover and remain completely customisable.

Previously, the Profit and Loss Allocation screen would always credit each members 3305 Preserved account but sometimes this should not be the case and manual journal entries after the rollover was completed needed to be performed. Now, you can select to credit each member either 3305 (Preserved), 3310 (Unrestricted) and 3315 (Restricted) during the Year End Rollover.

[b]Bugs fixed[/b]

1.) The simple setup now rounds the values of the assets added to two decimal places meaning that there is less chance of there being a rounding issue when trying to process the final opening balance transaction.

2.) The last update prevented users from editing a member to have the same name as another one. This preventative measure has now been tweaked to ignore checking the edited members name against their currently saved name.

Users can now go to Asset Utilities > Bulk Allocation Editor and modify the asset allocation table for every parcel held in a particular asset at once.

A print button is now available in the Transaction Reporter that allows users to print individual transactions within the fund. Select the transaction you wish to print in the list and click the new 'Print' button at the bottom of the screen.

[i][u]Change in Market Value report[/u][/i]
This report now includes a total of the number of units held for each asset in the report.

[b]Bugs fixed[/b]

1.) A crash occurred when trying to add more line items to a Predefined Transaction.

2.) Pensions added as a type of Predefined Payment Transaction. This was originally intentionally excluded but after some discussions with some users it is quite reasonable to have predefined pension payments available.

3.) Tab order fixed for all payment and receipts screens.

4.) Predefined payments now correctly pre-select the bank account that was saved as part of the transaction instead of always selecting the funds main bank account.

5.) Some users were experiencing issues with duplicate member names and after some investigation we found that it was possible to simply edit a member to have the same name as another. The member screens now correctly inform you that a member with the same name already exists.

[i]Tax Deductible Expenses[/i]

Users now have the option to designate some tax deductible expenses as not being tax deductable due to pension mode. There are two places where you can specify the percentage or dollar amount of expenses to be no longer tax deductable. First, the profit and loss report area of the Report tool screen has two fields for this purpose. Second, the "income not taxable due to pension mode" screen of the year end rollover allows these figures to be entered.

Automated calculation is available for deductible expenses associated with assets segregated to a pension member. However, you may choose to enter your own figures, or those of your accountant.

[i]Bank Statement Import[/i]

The recently introduced CSV bank statement import process was found to have an issue where some users bank statement CSV files would not import at all. This problem is now fixed.

SMSF trustees using MySF Manager will no longer need to manually walk through the various menu options to populate their new fund file with existing data. Gone is the need to systematically complete a set of tasks including the addition of asset classes, allocation categories, bank accounts, historical assets, and so on. Instead, the Simple Setup wizard (under the Home > Tools menu item), will walk users through these tasks one by one and will even create the Opening Balance entry automatically. This should make getting started with MySF Manager much easier.

Existing users who are part way through setting up will also benefit, since the Simple Setup wizard will pick up information already entered so you can continue where you left off.

The ledger listing for accounts in MySF Manager have been updated to show starting and ending balances in addition to the previous itemised debit and credit lists and totals.

This feature is available via Configuration > General Ledger > [select account] > Click on 'View account activity' or double click on account.

Each line of the ledger window now also contains a 'View' link which will open the complete transaction for viewing. This functions in a similar manner to the View journal entry' button in the Transaction Reporter screen.

[i]Year End - Tax liability allocation[/i]
The year end now contains added intelligence around the allocation of income tax liability stemming from income from pooled assets. The calculation of the tax allocation is now displayed in complete detail on the last tab of the member allocation table screen during rollover.

You can now also manually override the allocation of taxes if you or your accountant disagree with the figures generated by the software.

[i]Income and Expense Analysis[/i]
Income and expenses can now be filtered by member. Please note that this includes only income generated from assets segregated to a member and does not include contributions from that member.

[i]Income and Expense Analysis Report[/i]
The data displayed on the income / expense analysis screen can now be printed in a report. The report does not perform any new calculations and simply pushes the screen information into a report format.

[i]Removal of physical assets which are improvements on other assets[/i]
The removal of physical assets via the 'Remove asset' screen has been adjusted to correct a minor issue. Previously, when a physical asset was removed, where that asset was an improvement on another asset, the removed asset stayed in the improvement list of the parent asset until it was designated as no longer being and improvement. This is now fixed and in such cases the removed asset is removed from the improvements list also.

[i]Memo edit on dividends and distributions[/i]
It is now possible to edit the memo for dividends or distributions processed, via the Transaction reporter screen.

[i]Rounding removed from cost base updater[/i]
The view and edit cost base screen will now record changes in cost base up to 30 decimal places in precision when the suggested cost base is accepted. This will help to eliminate instances where small amounts are left over in accounts when an asset with a modified cost base is sold.

[i]More decimal places accepted on sale screen[/i]
The sell financial assets screen now accepts more decimal places than in the past, allowing for the cleanup of small fractions of units (less than 0.00001) left over after a complex corporate event and partial sale.

[i]Leftover amounts in profit and loss now forced to clear in year end[/i]
In previous versions it was possible for some small non-distributed amounts, such as depreciation expense, to be left over in account 3505 profit and loss clearing after the end of the rollover. This had the potential to cause a difference in the figures displayed in the members position report and the balance sheet. The year end now forces these amounts to be either pushed through and split to members' equity or to equity suspense.

[i]Member position reports can now include equity adjustments[/i]
The member position report now includes an equity adjustment section below the income section. This will display adjustments to equity that may take place during the year, excluding the final day of the financial year. This section will not be displayed at all in cases where there are no equity adjustments to display. This addition will help to bring the member position report in line with the balance sheet in the instances where items have been legitimately recorded straight to equity during the financial year rather than income or expense.
(Please note that it is very rare that you would need to post items straight to equity and you should only do so on the explicit advice of your accountant or other suitable qualified professional.)

[i]Other year end changes[/i]
There have been a couple of small modifications to the year end which will allow for smoother and simpler processing of the year end rollover.

[i]Minor user interface adjustments[/i]
The update contains some more minor changes to the user interface which will allow the software to display more cleanly on systems which use a high DPI setting.

New menu system for MySF Manager 8

Hi,

The next update to MySF Manager will contain a revamped 'ribbon' style menu. This will be very similar to the menus in the newer versions of Microsoft Office.

The new menu system is organised based on tasks. Asset related tasks are in one tab, reporting tasks are in another, etcetera.

The goals of the new interface are as follows:
- make MySF Manager easier to use
- help users save time
- help new users discover more of the power of MySF Manager more quickly
and of course ultimately make the tasks of control and compliance easier to achieve.

[b]Calculation of segregated income from increase in market value of assets at year end[/b]
This release includes a change to how the software calculates the segregated income due to unrealised gains stemming from assets purchased in the current financial year. Previous versions of the software included a small error which could cause the segregated income amount to be overstated, causing a larger allocation of profit to the segregation member. Segregated income from sources other than unrealised gains is not affected.

[b]Accounts 4627 and 4628[/b]
We have seen a number of recently created funds where accounts 4627 and 4628 had their tax settings reversed. This update contains a routine to check for this setting and adjust them back to normal.

[b]Revaluations from file import[/b]
MySF Manager includes a data service which reads end of day values on a 24-48 hour delay from 50 major exchanges world wide. This service includes ASX data and includes a currency conversion for investments listed overseas. A number of users have asked us for additional data such as managed fund unit prices. Unfortunately this data is costly and we would not be able to provide access to it without significantly increasing the price of the software.
Instead, we have added a file import facility. Users who require this additional revaluation information and have access to the data from their selected provider can now import a data file and have their investments automatically revalued based on that data. This new feature is accessible from a link near the bottom of the Housekeeping > Utilities > Asset Revaluation Table screen.

[b]Change to tax calculation in part pension mode[/b]
We have received information from one of our advisors, an accountant user and the ATO that prompted a change to how tax is calculated when some members of the fund are in pension, or part-pension mode. Prior to update 7.0.2 the "percentage of income exempt due to pension mode" was applied to all taxable income, regardless of source. This was incorrect because this discount should not be applied income that comes from a contribution, even if that member is also taking a pension. The change was to make an exception in the income tax calculation for any income posted to contribution account.

Users may now modify the amount of tax deferred liability they wish to book for the change in market value of assets during the year end process. This option is available on the "Unrealised capital gains" screen of the year end process. Before making any changes to amounts calculated by the software we would like to ask MySF Manager users to carefully check the amounts shown under the 'Details of deferred liability calculation' tab.

Any changes to the tax deferred liability figures will be notes in the reports of the year end process and MySF Manager staff will not be able to assist with enquiries about figures that have been changed manually.

Note 8 in the notes to accounts will be updated automatically when you open a fund in version 7.0.1. Please note that this change will not apply to reports created from past year end processes.

[u][b]Changes[/b][/u]

[b][i]Bank account import[/i][/b]
This update includes a new feature under Cash and Journal Processing > Bank Statement Import. You can import files downloaded from your bank's internet banking facility and quickly jump to screens to process the particular transactions being imported.
Please note that a fully automated bank statement import is not possible to implement at this time as bank statements do not contain enough information. For example, a bank statement may show a receipt of cash for a dividend, but it will typically not include any details such as franking credits. As a result there is usually some information that you will need to enter manually for each event.
This is the first version of the bank account import feature. We look forward to receiving your feedback about how we can improve it and make data import and data entry faster and more accurate for our users.

[b][i]Year end changes 1 - Increase in market value and deferred tax calculation [/i][/b]
We have reviewed and changed the method of processing the transactions for increases in market value and the associated provision for deferred tax liability. Previously, MySF Manager calculated the increase in the value of assets over the past 12 months only and added this onto the amounts already stored in the increase in market value accounts. Additionally, the software calculated the past increases in market value for assets that had been sold during the current year and subtracted this amount from the unrealised gains. In circumstances where assets had gone through transformations that affected cost bases and the number of units owned this approach was not always 100% accurate and sometimes required manual intervention. Therefore this process has been changed.
Now, the year end process will reverse all past increases in market value and record one new entry for unrealised gains which is calculated as being the difference between the cost base and current market value of assets. This ensures that all cost base reductions etc are picked up correctly. This is also an approach that will be more familiar to auditors and accountants and should therefore make their job easier.

Tax deferred liability is calculated for each parcel of every asset held in the fund the details of how the tax deferred liability amount is calculated is now show in detail on the second tab of the 'Unrealised capital gains' screen of the year end process. This information is shown to assist the work of accountants, auditors and those simply wanting to verify the figures shown by the software.

It is perhaps important to point out that the software does not calculate the tax deferred liability figure as 10% (being 1/3 discounted of 15% tax rate) of the increase in market value. Such as calculation assumes that all assets in the fund have been owned for a minimum of 12 months which is not normally accurate. Itemised calculation of the deferred tax amount is more accurate.

[b][i]Year end changes 2 - Capital losses, carried forward losses[/i][/b]
Users can now nominate how much of their current and past capital losses they wish to use to offset against any current year gains. There is also the option to nominate the order in which losses are to be offset against gains. Typically it is best to offset losses against fully taxable gains first, followed by discounted gains. However, the sequence can be changed if needed.

Any unused losses are carried forward to the next financial year.

The latest update to MySF Manager, update 6.0.2, is now available.

[b]Bug Fixes[/b]

Bank reconciliation filtering bug fixed. The symptom of this problem was that some transactions were omitted from reports showing past bank reconciliations. The problem was fixed by revising part of the filtering process which determines the transactions to be included on each report.

Members position (year end report) bug fixed. The symptom of this problem was that the members position report was showing no income or expenses for the current year. The report was fixed by moving it's creation forward in the year end process.

[b]Other changes[/b]

Tax split during year end has been adjusted to deliver a more equitable split of tax liabilities. In past version the fund's tax liability was split using the same ratio as fund's profits. This has now been changed so that the tax liability is split depending on the amount of taxable income that is related to any one member, which includes the amount of pooled income allocated to them.

MySF Manager 6.0.0 is now available

The latest update to MySF Manager, update 6.0.0, is now available

[b]New 'Year End Process'[/b]
This update to MySF Manager includes a completely new year end.

There are two important new pieces of functionality related to the new year end process. First, users can view reports before closing off the year end process. This is available on the last page of the year end process. Second, a completed year end process can be reversed. You will no longer need to reload a backup if you find that there had been a mistake in the processing of information for the past year. (Note that the year end reversal only works for year end processes that were completed using MySF Manager version 6.0.0 or higher)

The new year also contains corrections to some errors of the previous year end process. Specifically, realised capital losses can now be distributed to members or carried forward and unrealised capital losses are fully distributed to members.

Before processing a year end rollover for your own fund you may wish to run the process using the MySF Sample Fund so that you can familiarise yourself with any new steps.

Please see the Year End Process section of the Help Manual for a description of the various steps of the new year end process.

[b]New 'Quick Menu'[/b]
MySF Manager now contains a new front menu system that may be used instead of the old 'Main Menu'. The quick menu provides shortcuts to the features used most often by most clients.

You can still reach all of the functions via the traditional menu system at the top of the screen.

If you do not like the new quick menu then you can also switch back to the old menu. To do so please select the 'Main Menu' tab and click on 'Make this my default menu' in the top right hand corner.

[b]Additional Functionality[/b][/u]

We are excited to present an important new feature which that helps MySF Manager users get the best possible results from asset sales.

Sales processing in MySF Manager has always included specific-lot accounting, allowing users to allocate units within a sale that results in higher or lower amounts of taxable capital gains than would result from an 'average cost' approach. This has meant that users were able to take a more active role in determining paper gain / loss amounts for a given level of income and thereby improve performance.
This feature has now been automated with the following options (shown as links on the right hand side of the sale screen):

[b]- Average Cost[/b]
Click on this link to show an allocation that would result in the same capital gain calculation as what you would get when using an 'average cost' system.

[b]- FIFO[/b]
Click on this link to show an allocation that disposes of units on a first-in-first-out (FIFO) basis.
[b]
- LIFO[/b]
Click on this link to show an allocation that disposes of units on a last-in-first-out (LIFO) basis.

[b]- Highest Taxable[/b]
Click on this link to show an allocation of units within the sale that aims to maximize the taxable gain within the sale. This may be helpful if you have losses that you can use to offset against this sale.

[b]- Lowest Taxable[/b]
Click on this link to show an allocation of units within the sale that aims to minimize the taxable gain within the sale. Conversely, this also means that the system will attempt to maximize the loss if it can. This may be helpful if you would like to ensure that there is minimal gain and maximum loss from this sale.

[u]Warning and Disclaimer:[/u]
MySF Manager does not recommend or discourage the use of any of the above allocation approaches. Some or all of these approaches may not be permitted in your location and/or for your fund. Additionally, these allocations may not be optimal for the fund as they do not consider anything outside of details of the sale at hand, such as the financial situation and goals of the portfolio and its investors. Please ensure that you check with the ATO about whether or not the various allocations are permitted; and check with a suitably accredited finance professional about whether or not the allocation is optimal for the portfolio. If you are unsure about any of this then please do not use the automated allocations shown.

[u][b]Bugs fixed[/b][/u]
* Member allocation table's accounts are refreshed at the time of update to ensure that concessional, non-concessional and excessive accounts are correctly taken into account when determining a split of profits.
* Failure lists of the revaluation screen can now be exported so that any manual corrections or revaluations can take place with less effort.
* (this was not really a bug) Opening Balances screen modified to ensure that no mistaken entries get posted to potential parent accounts for asset classes.

- time weighted return calculations, an industry standard

The latest update to MySF Manager, update 5.0.0, is now available.

[u][b]IMPORTANT![/b] BEFORE INSTALLING UPDATE[/u] please ensure that you create a backup of your fund through Housekeeping > Create Backup.

This update includes major additional functionality to deliver better control of a greater range of investments.

The update also fixes some bugs that have been identified and includes minor changes to improve usability. The list of changes is shown below.

Support for international investments
* data now supplied not just from the ASX, but also an additional 49 exchanges.
* technical analysis feature now receives data from 50 exchanges

Support for foreign currencies
* foreign exchange calculator built into the software (up to 6 months historical data)
* foreign exchange data feed used automatically to convert all data to AUD when revaluing international investments (up to 6 months historical data)
* FX calculator accessible by pressing Ctrl + F when you have any currency field selected, or by clicking on the 'Foreign Exchange Calculator' link shown at the bottom of several screens

Usability improvements
* user-name and password screen now accepts enter key press instead of requiring you to click on OK
* tab orders revised on several screens

*Asset reports potential grouping and subtotal calculation issues fixed by making it more tolerant of slight differences in asset code entry
*Some error messages revised to be more informative and assist self-help
